School holidays are here and we have some great family fun and affordable things to do with the kids while you are visiting Rotorua!
Only 12 minutes from downtown Rotorua, visit the Buried Village of Te Wairoa. Now uncovered, the village was devastated by the eruption of Mt Tarawera in 1886 but at the same time fantastically preserved by the boiling mud.
Join the kids in the interactive Children’s Discovery Room in the museum and hunt for clues scattered around sites in the park.. there might even be some treasure at the end!
At the end of your family experience, grab a coffee and relax, while the kids play on the adventure playground nearby.
For good old fashioned family fun visit Amazeme on Paradise Valley Road. Challenge the children to complete the 1.4km Hedge Maze in record time! There are a range of children’s games available including giant Connect 4, giant Ludo and giant Checkers, Tug-of-War and Tic Tac Toe.
Check out the small animal petting zoo with rabbits, guinea pigs doves and budgies. Bring your lunch to enjoy a family picnic in the relaxing environment.
For the bigger kids head to the Village Green on the Rotorua Lakefront, next to the Volcanic Playground and try out the new experience hitting the streets and parks of Rotorua.
Scoots are two wheeled, battery operated transports designed for maximum fun with minimal effort! Available for ages 12 up and fun for kids and adults alike. Take a short zip around the Village Green or book into one of the Scoots guided tours and explore the awesome geothermal areas of central Rotorua.
